Job Overview

The Hubbell Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell.

Finance Interns will support the Corporate Controllership Group with primary focus in Financial Reporting and Accounting functions. This role will spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day operations of the Finance department. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you'll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you'll make a difference by:



  • Gain knowledge of the industry as it pertains to the Hubbell business location
  • Learn about US GAAP accounting principles and Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls in a large corporate environment.
  • Experience in planning and organizational skills
  • Assist with the monthly financial close responsibilities
  • Participate in SEC Reporting and Government Reporting filings
  • Working on comprehensive, value-added projects
  • Working in teams and with colleagues in a professional environment
  • Developing technical skills specific to your major
  • Providing opportunities for professional development by building relationships and learning about other parts of the business
  • Providing a presentation to the local management teamat the end of the program
  • Gaining knowledge of the industry as it pertains to the Hubbell business location
  • Gaining experience in planning and organizational skills
  • Working on challenging robust projects that will provide practical experience
  • Assisting with process improvement
  • Managing multiple projects with overlapping tasks and working independently with minimal supervision
  • Providing support and assistance to co-workers as appropriate

What will help you thrive in this role?

*Student must be 18 years of age by the start of the summer internship assignment

*Student must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

*Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles

*Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

*Strong drive to do what it takes to get the job done, inquisitive and demonstrates a strong willingness to learn

*Ability to work independently and take initiative

*Excellent attention to detail and follow-through are required

*Strong communication and leadership skills

*Professional and energetic personality with strong interpersonal skills

*Technically savvy with competency using spreadsheets and word processing

Expectations: The intern will be expected to work full-time at 40 hours/week and will be compensated on an hourly basis.

Compensation Range: $22.50/hour - $29.00/hour (dependent upon graduation date)
