Our work is primarily focused throughout the Western United States, and predominantly in the greater Pacific Northwest. Our projects often consist of complex and unique geologic problems that directly impact geotechnical engineering and design of transportation and heavy civil projects. We work on a variety of projects and perform the following tasks in remote areas and often under difficult environmental conditions:
Our staff is trained in rope access techniques to access steep slopes safely while collecting field data. Staff participate in annual rope access training with the entirety of the geologic hazards and engineering geology workgroup for three days. We also provide construction support of our designs as part of our comprehensive geologic and geotechnical services, or when observation of construction activities requires a strong understanding of a site's geologic conditions. We service a variety of private and public clients including local governments, state departments of transportation, mining, other government agencies, private development, hydro power infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities and rail lines. Staff Geologist - Engineering Geology Staff This position is for an entry level staff geologist (0 to 3 years of experience) and will be located in our Portland, Oregon office. The selected candidate will be on a career track to licensure under the direct supervision of our certified/licensed engineering geologists. The selected candidates will spend up to 75% of their time performing field tasks, and 25% of their time in the office. This balance will change as the candidate progresses in their career, but the primary responsibility of the selected candidate will be to support field efforts for the first two to three years of their career. The selected candidate will primarily support the staffing needs of the geologic hazards and engineering geology workgroup, as well as the geotechnical engineering workgroup, or as directed by their supervisor or workgroup leadership.
