Community Center Program Aide

The Salvation Army Gateway Corps located in St. Louis, Missouri, is looking for a Community Center Program Aide. The individual in this position is responsible for supervising the Gym Program Aide, Receptionist, and League officials and for the overall programming and operation of the Community Center.

This is a part-time position, up to 20 hours per week, with starting pay of $13.25 per hour.

Essential Functions

  1. Oversee members and visitors during activities in the community center.
  2. Enforce rules as necessary.
  3. Assist in leagues, rentals, and other recreational opportunities.
  4. When necessary, mediate disputes among participants, being sensitive to needs of all parties.
  5. Set up and take down work and play areas before and after activities.
  6. Assist in planning community center special events.

Minimum Qualifications

Previous work with youth activities and community center is desirable. Good communication skills. Able to read and write well. Relate well with youth and children. Requires basic verbal communications with children and other employees. Valid drivers' license (including E license to transport children) and pass TSA MVR is a plus. Must be certified by American Red Cross (ARC) in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.

Physical and Working Conditions

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties and be able to lift a 40-pound child. Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Some work will be outdoors where it will be hot in the summer.
