Hours Per Week
Work Schedule Varies based on course load. Faculty may be asked to teach across modalities (hybrid, face to face, online, etc.) and in accelerated (7 weeks); 10 weeks and 15-week course formats.
Grade Temporary full time faculty. Rank to be determined upon hire based on experience.
Minimum Compensation $61,100
General Responsibilities
The Division of Health, Science, and Technology at Howard Community College ( HCC) is seeking applicants for a temporary full-time faculty position (5 month) in the discipline of chemistry. The faculty member will be expected to teach courses in introductory inorganic chemistry lecture and lab, with a focus on courses required for students in Allied Health disciplines. The candidate must be team-oriented and be able to coordinate with other division faculty.

Minimum Education Required Master's degree
Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 2
Other Knowledge Required
Essential requirements:
Minimum of a master's degree in chemistry or related field
A minimum of two years of high school or college teaching experience in Chemistry
Experience operating chemistry laboratory equipment
Demonstrated record of teaching excellence
Ability to teach using a variety of approaches
Effective interpersonal skills
Preferred requirements:
Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field
Experience teaching chemistry at a community college
Experience in curriculum development

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Rank and salary will be determined upon hire.

Howard Community College offers competitive salaries, excellent medical and dental selections, tuition reimbursement and paid leave programs. As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
