Bio-Rad is looking for a Maintenance Technician IV to support the manufacturing plant that produces process chromatography resins, liquid buffers, monomer solutions, oils, and other specialized life science products. In this role you will be part of the Manufacturing Science and Technology group that consists of a multidisciplinary team of Scientists and Engineers working on developing innovative technologies and continuous improvement projects for the chemical manufacturing site.

As the Maintenance Technician, you will collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to determine Bio-Rad's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Bio-Rad's infrastructure (Process equipment, instrumentation, and automation) fit together perfectly and keep our equipment and manufacturing process moving along smoothly for a seamless user(internal/external) experience. Equipment includes glass-lined reactors with heating systems, semi-automated fill lines, air classifiers, wet sizing units, inline mixing systems, and semi-automated dispense systems among various others. Instrumentation includes control valves, temp, pressure, speed transmitters. Automation systems include - Allen Bradley RS Logix, Control/Compact Logix, Automation direct HMI, and PLCs.

How You'll Make an Impact:



  • Lead and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure efficient operations, high-quality workmanship, and compliance with safety standards. *
  • Conduct regular inspections and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Create and implement preventive maintenance schedules and develop equipment SOPs to extend equipment lifespan and reduce unexpected failures. *
  • Oversee repair projects and maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, inventory management, and CMMS entries.
  • Train new technicians on safety protocols and collaborate with other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and support operational goals.
  • Utilize blueprints and wiring diagrams for setup and maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop equipment plans and strategies to minimize downtime and suggest improvements to maintenance processes.


What You Bring:



  • High school/trade school diploma, GED, or equivalent (e.g., ITC/NTC); Associate degree preferred.
  • 6+ years related experience or equivalent education and experience; certifications (CFM, AFE, CPM) helpful.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulations for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance, calibration, and validation processes, with preference for experience on site-specific systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems, including motors, control panels, wiring, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Skilled in diagnosing electrical issues using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools to identify faults in circuits, wiring, and electrical components.
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and ability to troubleshoot and repair PLC-related issues, ensuring smooth operation of automated equipment.
  • Proficient in using tools and equipment common to the trade.
  • Skilled at maintaining cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to efficiently identify and resolve issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to quickly address and repair electrical breakdowns, minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Knowledgeable in PC, MS Office, and relevant software.
  • Possess applicable licenses as required by law.

Compensation: The estimated hourly range for this position is $36.63 to $50.43 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
