Job Purpose

Collaborating with the Plant (aka Genpo) Manufacturing Equipment Services Department (MESD) leadership team, identify chronic or critical equipment or process downtime items. Prioritize and drive countermeasure and recurrence prevention of complex robotic trouble items through deep RCA and horizontal countermeasures. Lead technical experts in the standardization of regional production systems. Provide discipline-based emergency technical support for complex problems. Work with Frame/Power Unit Manufacturing Characteristics (FMC/PUC) and Equipment Production associates by providing feedback/support on discipline-based trouble due to spec, design, and install. Based on Genpo results, identify concerns and provide potential countermeasures to improve reliability centered spec, design, and installation activity. Develop improvement themes working with the RO PE team for North American regional improvement

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead in the identification of chronic downtime root cause and recommend countermeasure in specialized area. Communicate issues to RO Category Leader for regional distribution.
  • Analyze current manufacturing characteristics and summarize results in comparison to achievement of equipment or process related Genpo targets. Collaborate with D-Leadership and identify areas for focused activity.
  • Provide input for improved reliability for new Equipment specification requirements based on current struggle items.
  • Attend North American level Production Equipment Category meetings and document results for Senior Management to create improvements to Genpo characteristic improvements.
  • Prepare quarterly and monthly reports of results to gage results and execute PDCA.
  • Conduct Key Performance Indicator gap analysis and countermeasure activity development.
  • Lead new technology introduction as needed at the Genpo.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (concentration in Manufacturing a plus) or related equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of work experience in a Manufacturing environment related to discipline
  • Mechanical: Understanding of equipment design and operation, including ability to design in 3D/2D CAD software (CATIA/SolidWorks preferred), read/create mechanical drawings, and apply air circuit logic.
  • Electrical: Understanding of automated equipment electrical hardware/software design, including knowledge of machine safety controls, servo position control, field I/O networking, PLC, and HMI
  • Robotics: installing, integrating, troubleshooting and teaching robots (Fanuc, Motoman and ABB) and Vision (iRvision, Robeye, etc.) systems.
  • Application of engineering and manufacturing principles
  • In-depth understanding of automotive manufacturing processes. (i.e. Assembly, Paint, Welding, Stamping, Die Cast, Machining)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic 2D and 3D CAD tools. (Catia and AutoCad)
  • Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively both with customers and internal project teams
  • Business acumen in a technical environment
