Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Must have a current or be able to pass the Department of Transportation physical, maintain a Commercial Driver's License, and have a good driving record.
  • Ability to use Salvation Army approved computer programs, including email, web-based timecard system, and basic word processing.
  • Valid Driver's License. (Must meet the guidelines provided by the State of residence and the automobile insurance provider as pertaining to corps' passenger vans/buses.)
  • Must pass The Salvation Army background checks and meet the MVR driver's qualifications.
  • Willingness to support the philosophy, goals, objectives, and mission of The Salvation Army.


Summary of Position

The Driver is responsible for driving and picking up donated food and goods.

This is a temporary part time position with a workweek expectations less than 30 hours.

$15.00/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This job description is not all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential duties of the position. Other duties, responsibilities and tasks may be assigned by the Food Services Coordinator or Corps Officer.



  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.
  • Support the mission of The Salvation Army by treating every client and colleague with individual respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind.
  • Engage all community members (including and not limited to, clients, visitors, volunteers, etc.) in a way that brings them to the Corps for programming, activities, events, and Pathway of Hope.
  • Make early morning donation pick-ups from 7:30 am till 10:00 am. This includes traveling to appointed designation(s), loading and unloading items onto or off of van and carrying items into corps community center for distribution.
  • Do other pick ups and deliveries as instructed.
  • Pick up donations at assigned destinations that are either on going or one time assignments.
  • Load donations in a safe, secure manner to minimize damage and breakage to donations and property.
  • Issue donor receipts for donated items.
  • Drive for other Salvation Army program needs as assigned.
  • Perform routine truck maintenance to ensure trucks run safely and efficiently. Report all maintenance and performance concerns to supervisor.
  • Maintain the exterior and interior of truck in a clean orderly condition.
  • Provide customer service and resolve scheduling problems and issues.
  • Report safety hazards to supervisor immediately.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as requested.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Working Conditions

The duties and responsibilities of this position cannot be performed from home. There are normally no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical working conditions, with the exception of the occasional emotional distress or turmoil (due to varying situations) with and between staff and/or clients.
