The Lund lab in the Immunology and Vaccine Development (IVD) Program of the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division (VIDD) is recruiting a Research Technician I, with a focus on bench research duties under the supervision of senior lab staff and the Principal Investigator.

This positon may require occasional evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities

    Process and analyze human blood and tissue samples
  • Handle animals
  • Perform in-vivo animal infection and vaccination studies
  • Perform flow cytometry
  • Perform PCR-based analysis of cell populations
  • Conduct sterile cell culture work with cell lines and primary cells
  • Manage the mouse colony and perform genotyping
  • Grow and maintain viral stocks
  • Perform immunofluorescence staining and other microscopy and imaging techniques
  • Be responsible for data analysis and communication
  • Be in charge of general lab upkeep and maintenance tasks
  • Perform experiments involving viruses and tissues from infected individuals at biosafety level 2 (BSL2)
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study.
  • Demonstrated basic laboratory skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be highly motivated.
  • Execute experiments in a timely manner.
  • Possess a great attention to detail.
  • Be able to multi-task and prioritize work at a short notice.
  • Work well independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ideally, have prior experience working with animals, performing laboratory research, and/or be interested in immunology and host-pathogen interactions research.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
