This is a full-time, dynamic athletic trainer position for the JeffCo School District. The role involves rotating throughout the district, assisting in the athletic training room, and providing coverage for both practices and games. It also encompasses support for the triage line within our Orthopedic Institute and club sports coverage when needed. During the school year, the candidate should anticipate evening and weekend athletic coverage, as well as at least one morning shift per week dedicated to the triage line. During the summertime, the candidate can expect 1-2 triage shifts and assist with club sports tournament coverage. The primary responsibilities for the Athletic Trainer are to provide superior rehabilitative care to injured athletes and patients, educate the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues, and maintain the highest standards of care to student athletes under the direction of the team physician. The Athletic Trainer I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP). Team members in this position may work in a clinical setting or an outreach setting. In a clinical setting, the Athletic Trainer I performs orthopedic evaluation of patients and communicates findings. In an outreach setting, the Athletic Trainer I provides daily medical coverage for trainings, practices and events. As an entry level position, team members in this position receive direct supervision and guidance from higher level Athletic Trainers, supervisors and/or providers regarding proper documentation in medical notes, medical terminology, use of "dot phrases", relationship building and time management. POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE Neonate - <30 days Infancy - >30 days to 1yr Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs School age - >5yrs to 13yrs Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Serves as a liaison between family physicians and/or specialists and the school district, athletes and their parents. Also, coordinates care between parents, medical assistants, physicians and/or physician office staff. In a clinical setting, performs orthopedic evaluation of patients and communicates findings. Under direct supervision, documents and edits medical notes. Takes medical histories following established standards and guidelines. Follows providers' standing orders to order appropriate imaging. In an outreach setting, provides daily medical coverage for trainings, practices, and events following sports medicine standards and best practices. Including but not limited to providing pre-game and pre-practice taping and preparation of athletes. Communicates confidentially with athletes, parents, athletic director(s), coaches and physicians regarding athletes' playing status and ability to return to competition. Maintains accurate records of injuries and treatments. Maintains appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the team physician. Provides patient and community education in the areas of sports injury prevention and care. Provides athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away games as directed. This includes athletic contests held on the weekend and/or in the evenings. If a conflict arises between an away varsity football game and a home contest, the varsity football event takes priority. Provides event coverage. Athletic Trainers in an outreach setting provide occasional medical coverage at outside games, practices, and tournaments. Develops and maintains a budget for the athletic training program supply management. Maintains clinic flow between all areas of the clinic, patient brace/crutch fitting and product education. Salary Information Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $50,968.16 to $76,452.24Hourly Salary Range: $24.50 to $36.76 Benefits Information Here, you matter.
