Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering within the School of Engineering. The Program Coordinator works for the New Jersey Space Grant Consortium ( NJSGC), a training grant awarded by NASA with annual funding of $800,000. This is a grant funded position.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Serves as the liaison first-level contact with NJSGC/NASA grant personal, principal investigator, and university community, must provide timely and accurate information on the policies and procedures of the Department.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision on some routine and semi-routine tasks.
  • Performs professional work requiring knowledge of general administrative/ office management practices as well as specific knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor and multitask in a fast -paced, confidential environment.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.
  • Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have excellent communication and writing skills to manage website updates and other articles.
  • Computer Literacy, including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to consistently maintain good work relationships and smooth team situations.
  • Technology savvy and ability to create electronic forms and databases.
  • Must be able to prioritize and perform multiple and varied tasks in a fast-paced service-focused environment.
  • Must have ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities. Ability to work on a team with the highest level of attention to detail.
  • Must be eager to learn and adapt to constant change to all RU systems updates

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers Cornerstone experience, Marketplace, Expense Management, Financial Oracle Cloud and Payroll/ HCM.
  • Expertise in MS Word and MS Excel and website editing.

Special Conditions

  • The position is grant funded; based on funding availability of the NASA project.
  • Flexibility in working hours is sometimes required, as NJSGC/ NASA grant events run outside of normal business hours and out of the office setting, some travel would be required.
  • Position will require some travel in state and out of state to attend conferences/presentations related to the NASA Program.
