JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, this position perform task to establish and maintain employee/payroll records. Provide support with all activities of the payroll department. Duties may include tracking employee hours, leave time, and attendance, answer telephones, respond to inquiries, filing; and complete data entry. Process payroll for staff; review employees' hours, ensure accuracy of payroll, and makes certain taxes are deducted from each check.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures.
  • Track employee hours, leave time, and attendance.
  • Provide backup support to other payroll team members Assist employees with getting answers to HR, payroll, time-keeping questions.
  • Assist with the validation of employee work hours, calculating pay and deductions benefits.
  • Generate payroll reports, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end statements.
  • Handle records management, paper, and digital files.
  • Assist with payroll audits and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications and skills for this position include:

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent. Associates Degree preferred
  • Proven work experience in Payroll or Finance related areas is preferred;
  • Proven computer experience in Microsoft Office to include data input experience;
  • Strong business aptitude;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Basic clerical skills to include typing, word processing, and filing;
  • Good organizational and basic accounting skills;
  • Ability to be detail oriented and perform accurately under pressure;
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated;
  • Professional demeanor;
  • Ability to work with all types of individuals via telephone and in-person is extremely important.
  • As this position requires direct contact with college administrators, faculty, staff, general public and students on a regular basis,

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, computer, cash register, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
