Laboratory Research Technician

The successful candidate will play an integral role in translational research investigating the molecular mechanisms that regulate cardiovascular calcification and vascular remodeling across various disease states. In this position, the candidate will assist with the daily operations of the laboratory, including ordering and the preparation and filing of regulatory documents. The individual will be expected to conduct experiments independently as part of a dedicated research project, as well as manage the mouse colony, which will involve handling mice and assisting with in vivo experiments. Additionally, the candidate will coordinate the collection of human tissue samples from clinical collaborations and assist staff with the creation of primary cell lines. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, capable of efficiently multi-tasking, and possess excellent interpersonal skills, along with a solid understanding of advanced scientific principles.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.

Physical Effort

Must be able to move freely around the lab. May need to go to other university labs or offices. Could involve long periods of sitting. May involve, standing, bending, moving of lab equipment.
