Overview

SUMMARY

Full Time. Monday-Friday with occasional Sundays. Hours typically fall between 8am-6pm.

Responsible for purchasing medications for numerous pharmacy locations, identifying drug shortages, achieving system pharmacy contract targets, and communicating effectively with pharmacy sites. Part of the Pharmacy Supply Chain team within system pharmacy.

Major Responsibilities:
Completes remote purchases of medications from primary/secondary wholesalers and drop ship/direct manufacturer orders
for several pharmacy inpatient, ambulatory clinic, and retail sites.
*Executes strategic pharmacy purchases in adherence with organizational contracts and departmental inventory optimization
initiatives.
*Serves as a member of the drug shortage management team and will be a conduit to primary and secondary venders to
navigate product acquisition during drug shortages.
*Purchases medications pursuant to the 340B Drug Pricing Program rules and regulations and ensures accurate purchasing
and savings utilizing split-billing software.
*Communicates with site-based pharmacy personnel to ensure appropriate inventory replenishment and resolves inventory
discrepancies.
* Manages pharmacy inventory transfers, interdepartmental billing, purchase orders, and invoice compliance.
* Completes other tasks as necessary.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board needs to be obtained within
2 years, or Pharmacy Technician Certified (ExCPT) issued by the National Health career Association needs to be obtained within 2 years.
- If working in WI: Registered as a Pharmacy Technician through Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, application must be submitted prior to start date.
- If working in IL: Registered as a Pharmacy Technician through Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, application must be submitted prior to start date with license obtained within 60 days of date of submission.

Education Required:
High School Graduate.

Experience Required:
Typically requires 3 years of experience in pharmacy. 3 years of pharmacy purchasing experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
* Strong mathematics skills
* Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
* Advanced computer skills
* Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Applications, including but not limited to: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams
* Advanced knowledge of Pharmacy operations and Automation Systems (such as BD Logistics)
* Proficiency in the 340B Drug Pricing Program and completion of the Apexus 340B University On-Demand Modules

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
* Working conditions will be remote
* Home location must be within 1 hour of a designated hospital hub or a 24-hour hospital pharmacy site
* Must have fine motor manipulation of hands and wrists to use computer keyboard.
* Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing.
* Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
