How you will make history here...

Leads and supports the commercialization activities for the Bread and Cracker manufacturing units (e.g., new product development, line extensions, packaging material improvements). Coordinates technical activities in processing and packaging within the bakery plant (e.g., bake validations, fermentation studies). Identifies improvement opportunities and drives continuous improvement processes by applying the appropriate tools and resources to improve bottom-line results and enhance the company's competitive position. Delivers results in the areas of safety, quality, and cost. Develops the capabilities and competencies of employees through ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring; promotes employee engagement, empowerment, and teamwork. Ensures full compliance with company policies and standards related to safety, quality, and workplace conduct.

What you will do...

  • 40% - Perform technical lead functions related to all new product development initiatives, line extensions, packaging modifications, etc., for the facility. Serve as a liaison between Product Development, Corporate QA, Corporate Engineering, and plant stakeholders (QA, Operations, Receiving, Distribution, Maintenance, and Sanitation).
  • 40% - Function as a technical services resource on key manufacturing processes for the Bread and Cracker units. Develop and lead the technical training program for these key plant processes. Coordinate and perform technical training with key functional areas, including Managers, Supervisors, and Leaders across the site functions.
  • 15% - Participate in Daily Direction Setting (DDS) team meetings as a resource and mentor. Lead/support Continuous Improvement activities to enhance SPQDC plant metrics and deliver enabler opportunities.
  • 5% - Develop and implement effective communication plans to keep indirect reports well-informed regarding business objectives, results, initiatives, and changes. Ensure that the department's focus is properly aligned with the overall site and corporate goals.

What sets your team apart?

  • Manage commercialization activities at the facility in both Bread and Cracker applications. Direct plant activities using an organized testing strategy, manage the testing calendar, and organize needed resources, participating in plant trial activities, and compile technical data in support of successful new product manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain a technical library to support key processes in manufacturing. Include processes such as oven performance and bake curves, cooling profiles, commercialization documentation packets, enabler and continuous improvement studies, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize based on business needs.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with employees at all levels of the organization to drive results. Interface effectively with multiple departments/functions in the plant, as well as Corporate Quality, Product Development, Engineering, etc.
  • Train a diverse group of salaried and hourly employees, adapting training programs and presentation style to fit the audience.

What you bring to the table...

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 + years of process/project management experience in a manufacturing environment

It would be great to have...

  • B.A. degree in Food Science, Quality, Operations or R&D.
  • 5 + years of process/project management experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably food).
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Cross-functional experience with a proven track record of delivering successful business results in safety, quality, and cost.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards, HACCP guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), etc.
  • Passion to identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to deliver bottom-line results. Must be a change agent.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to formulate action plans based on real data.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Must possess strong training/facilitation skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). SAP experience is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$73,500-$105,700

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
