Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (
UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education.
UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016,
UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition,
UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Nurse Manager for the Addiction Services - Rutgers Center for Recovery & Wellbeing Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
The primary purpose of the Nurse Manager is to direct, plan, analyze, evaluate, and coordinate nursing services within Addiction Services. Ensures the provision of quality care. Interprets policies and regulations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Responsible for managing the nursing staff of the addiction units and assuring that the daily tasks of the nursing staff are carried out in accordance with UBHC's policies and in compliance with state regulations, federal regulations, and The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards.
- Provides administrative oversight of the facility's nursing services, and where appropriate, directly supervises the facility's nursing staff.
- Assists the Director, Outpatient Nursing Services in developing and maintaining written objectives, policies and procedures related to nursing services, developing an organization plan, and developing a quality assurance program for nursing services.
- Conducts meetings with nursing leadership and other members of the healthcare team to develop and communicate nursing goals and objectives.
- Recommends to the facility's management team program design, budget and assignment of nursing staff to meet the needs of Addiction Services.
- Interprets regulations and standards and communicates nursing philosophy and objectives to nursing staff.
- Interacts with individuals served, their families, and clinical teams to promote individualized, person-centered, and recovery-oriented treatment.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
- Five (5) years of progressively more responsible nursing experience with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management nursing experience.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey with registration for the current year.
BLS certified.- Valid driver's license.

- One (1) year full time experience with the management of addictions in a licensed substance use disorder treatment facility.
- Ability to provide psychiatric nursing.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
Physical Demands: Position requires standing 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3 of the time, requires sitting 1/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle or feel 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms, 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time. Manual dexterity and intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities. As needed, will drive to other locations.
Work Environment: Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Subject to unpredictable crisis situations, both medical and psychiatric. Occasionally exposed to individuals exhibiting assaultive behaviors. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens that requires use of personal protective equipment. May be exposed to varying or extreme temperatures. |
Special Conditions |
- When scheduled, shall be on the premises or on call and available on-site, or respond within 30 minutes, during the facility's hours of operation which are 24/7, 365 days per year.
- Subject to random drug screens throughout employment.
