Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. The School has built a reputation for its continued pursuit of excellence, rigorous education and training programs, cutting-edge multidisciplinary research, progressive pharmacy practices, efficient business operations, and its outstanding faculty, staff, and students. Position Summary |
The Office of Experiential Programs is comprised of a number of experiential programs faculty and professional staff, each with specified areas of responsibility. The Office of Experiential Programs functions as a cohesive unit where teamwork, collaboration, and innovation are encouraged and celebrated. The
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is recruiting for a Program Manager to provide comprehensive professional project/program management at a high performing level in collaboration with faculty, staff, and students. This includes, but is not limited to, event planning and execution, preparation/editing of letters and documents, assisting with travel/personal reimbursement, office administration, assisting with financial actions, and assisting with human resources actions. This position must analyze, prioritize, and keep track of multiple pieces of complex and often confidential information to make accurate, efficient recommendations regarding workflow, and provide facilitation and processing of information and verbal and written correspondence. The prospective candidate must facilitate completion of work at a rapid pace on time-sensitive matters with routine interruptions. The Program Manager will also assist in the preparation of progress and budget reports. All of the above must be done with minimal errors and the utmost professionalism in an office whose priorities must adapt to evolving needs and demands from within the School and with strategic partners. The Program Manager will perform functions that require thorough knowledge of the School's policies, procedures, and operations.
Importantly, the Program Manager will provide project/program management for educational initiatives at the School related to the professional program, including experiential programs and North Carolina
AHEC. This includes, but is not limited to, (1) developing and maintaining productive collaborative work relationships internally within the School and externally with affiliated partner institutions; (2) assessing and responding to key stakeholder needs; (3) contributing intellectually and thoughtfully to the development, planning, and implementation of new initiatives; and (4) demonstrating an ability to think critically and problem solve. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
The incumbent must also have a demonstrated ability to:
* Work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team contributing to team efforts
* Organize and implement workflows focused on a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
* Work under pressure, multitask, manage competing obligations/deadlines, and prioritize responsibilities and deadlines in an often-changing environment
* Proactively identify and independently solve complex problems
* Communicate (e.g. written and verbal) and collaborate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external constituents
* Ensure a strong customer service focus while also holding students accountable to meeting experiential training requirements for external clinical partners |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Administrative experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
Experiential Program-Related Qualifications, Competencies and Experience:
* Knowledge of contract law and experience in contract negotiations
* Experience in the drafting, processing, negotiating and/or administration of legal contracts/agreements/memorandums of understanding.
* Experience administering programs and services
* Experience in student affairs on a college/university campus is preferred
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms and database management |
