What You'll Do:

  • Enhance School Success: Assist with setting up 504 plans and IEPs and collaborate with school staff to ensure students' needs are met.
  • Guide Career Paths: Provide career interest assessments, resume advice, and interview practice to open doors to fulfilling careers.
  • Support Transitions: Help patients navigate the shift from high school to college or the workforce, ensuring they have the resources and confidence to thrive.
  • Collaborate and Connect: Work with external programs, vocational rehabilitation services, and college disability offices to offer comprehensive support.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: M.A. or M.S. in Education (specialty in rehabilitation or vocational evaluation). 2. License/Certifications: C.R.C. (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor). 3. Experience: Counseling theory, physical and psychological effects of disability, socio-economic affects of disability, occupational analysis, vocational evaluation and training as reflected in one to two years' experience. 4. Working knowledge of community, service agencies (local and state), federal agencies, financial benefit programs (SS, SSDI, Workers Compensation.) 5. Must be able to communicate and contribute in an interdisciplinary team setting. 6. Must demonstrate technical writing ability specific to the field. 7. Must be able to complete treatment plans with patient and family involvement. 8. Knowledge of legislation specific to disabling conditions (physical and mental); i.e. education, employment, accessibility, consumer rights, etc.
