Job Description Summary
The School Counseling Master's program in the Department of Psychology in the College of Education and Social Sciences at Lewis University seeks a Director of School Counseling and Professor of Practice (PoP). The School Counseling Program works closely with the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program Director as the two programs comprise the graduate counseling division of the Department of Psychology.

Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Serve as the Program Director of the school counseling program

-Serve as a Core Faculty Member of the School Counseling Program
-Teach 18 credit hours per contract year, including summer teaching
-Responsible for the oversight of the school counseling program including curriculum, program planning, continuous assessment, and daily operations of the program
-Participate in recruitment and admittance of graduate school counseling prospects
-Coordinate and participate in graduate student advising
-Keep current with educational trends in the school counseling field
-Address student related concerns including support and remediation plans
-Direct continuous program assessment effort as well as the development and implementation of continuous program evaluation and improvement.
-Development of the curriculum, preparation and update of course syllabi, course outlines, and selection of textbooks and additional curricular materials in association with program faculty
-Development and administering the comprehensive examination
-Maintain program alignment with ASCA and Illinois State Board of Education ( ISBE) school counseling program requirements
-Participate in Department, College, School Counseling/ CMHC Program, and University meetings.
-Collaborate with school counseling faculty and staff members on program initiatives.
-Responsible for being up to date with current trends, topics, and issues in the professional field of school counseling.
-Collaboration with the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program director on educational quality control and compliance issues
-Lead adjunct hiring and training
-Summer presence required
-Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Counselor Education or education-related field and a minimum of 3 years working as a school counselor in a K-12 setting and administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will: have a clear counselor-educator identity, have significant higher education and K-12 experience working with diverse students populations, an established record of teaching and administrative excellence, evidence of scholarship in the school counseling or higher education field, a well-defined area of practitioner expertise, be a licensed school counselor in the State of Illinois, demonstrate cultural responsive teaching and counseling practices, and present evidence of scholarly potential.
