Our 10-week CNA training program starts January 6, 2025. The program is a commitment of 120 hours (40 hours of clinical + 80 hours of lecture/Lab). Classes meet three times per week. Lecture/Lab will be Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Clinicals are rotating Thursdays 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm and Saturdays 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Additionally, the Staff Support Technician will work shifts on the units.

What you will need:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience

A Brief Overview:

Assist in providing staff support in an Inpatient and/or Outpatient environment. Inpatient: This role may provide basic care for patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse on our inpatient units and facilitate communication between the patient, their family, and the patient's care team via video conference applications or phone.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

* Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital.

Inpatient Duties:

  • Responds to the immediate needs of the patient by answering patient call lights promptly and courteously.
  • As directed, by RN, makes hourly or more frequent rounds on patients for safety, comfort, and meeting patients' needs/requests
  • Positions, lifts, transfers, and ambulates patients as directed by the RN; use of Safe Patient Handling equipment
  • Assist with setting up meals for patients and ordering meals
  • Keeps patient rooms tidy, refreshes patient's linen as need, removes unnecessary equipment and linen
  • Assists patient with simple hygiene/comfort measures such as washing hands/face and oral care
  • As directed by the RN, transports patient to other departments or during discharge
  • When directed by the RN, remains with the patient continuously for patient safety.
  • Handles infectious waste and linen according to established hospital procedure
  • Adheres to proper infection control standards and hand washing techniques to avoid cross contamination
  • Cleans and disinfects unit specific equipment
  • Answers phones and/or cover/assist Unit Concierge as needed during the shift
  • Acts as a "Runner" to other departments, when needed to obtain necessary items for patient care

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS

  • Direct contact or phone contact with patients and medical staff.

ENVIRONMENT.

  • Wear an N95 mask / PAPR and other PPE
  • Work may be outdoors subject to temperature fluctuations
  • Walking, bending, stooping, long periods of stationary standing, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Must be able to assist with occasional heavy lifting of 100+ pounds.
