Job Summary

Independently uses and applies in-depth knowledge and experience in the specific policy field on projects that typically impact the entire organization or programs external to the organization. Operates in a highly visible, politically sensitive, legally complex and evolving arena. Uses advanced professional concepts and objectives to address and resolve complex policy or program issues. Works on significant, strategic issues and problems requiring political sensitivity, where analysis of circumstances and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors.

In this six-month contract role, the senior manager will

  • Collaborate with Healthforce Center leadership to develop and articulate new programs and projects
  • Lead process for, and contribute to, the creation of new strategic messaging and supporting collateral aimed at securing new funding
  • Assess, synthesize, and communicate organizational impact to internal and external audiences
  • Provide subject matter expertise to Healthforce programs and lead the development of essential programming across Healthforce's portfolio
  • Lead special projects of strategic importance including strengthening and standardizing cross-program evaluation approaches and processes

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $128,600 - $192,900 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. (e.g., public health, public policy, education, organizational development, business administration)
  • Minimum 10+ years relevant progressive experience
  • Knowledge of Healthforce's portfolio of programs, including the CHCF Leadership Program and the California Improvement Network
  • Interest in the health workforce, including applied research, evaluation and capacity building
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information and propose solutions, including facilitating coming to solutions with individuals and groups.
  • Committed to advancing equity in all processes and settings
  • Expert knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Highly skilled communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with and influence others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Highly skilled in all levels of project management.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Expert analytical / problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Expert knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • Expert knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures and external regulatory requirements in policy domain.
  • Master's degree or higher in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (e.g., public health, public policy, education, organizational development, business administration)
