The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University (NYITCOM - Arkansas) Department of Biomedical & Anatomical Sciences invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Faculty in the department have strong backgrounds in basic and translational research. Specific areas of expertise include renal physiology, cardiovascular disease, bioinformatics, neuroscience, and evolutionary biology. In addition to teaching medical students, faculty members actively participate in graduate education, both in the classroom and through mentoring and training of graduate students in the osteopathic medical curriculum and in a Master of Biomedical Science (MBS) program. The department provides a collaborative, intellectual environment that encourages collaboration among faculty, and the facilitation of interaction through shared access to core research facilities. Faculty are provided opportunities for growth through formal internal programming, as well as support to attend and present at professional meetings.

NYITCOM-Arkansas is an accredited, additional campus in Jonesboro, Arkansas that matriculates approximately 120 students each year. Located in the northeast corner of Arkansas, Jonesboro is the largest city in the region. It is approximately one hour from Memphis and has a population of approximately 80,000. Jonesboro is a thriving community that is home to numerous educational, commercial, agricultural, and health care entities. NYITCOM-Arkansas is housed in a recently renovated, state-of-the-art educational facility centrally located on the campus of Arkansas State University. Responsibilities

Faculty effort allocation is typically distributed between the domains of teaching, research/scholarly activity, and service. The successful candidate will:

    Provide didactic lectures to first and second-year medical students in a systems-based curriculum.
  • Facilitate small-group learning sessions in the first and second academic years.
  • Mentor medical students throughout their medical school training.
  • Serve on committees to fulfill institutional and departmental needs.
  • Conduct bench or scholarly research and guide students in scholarly activities.


Qualifications

  • PhD with expertise in microbiology is preferred.
  • Post-doctoral training or teaching experience preferred.
