Description

V2X is seeking a skilled Aircraft Mechanic I (A&P) to join our Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS) at NAS Whiting Field. This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on aircraft to ensure mission readiness and safety. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, experienced in aviation maintenance, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Basic Function, Essential Duties, and Accountabilities:



  • Performs repair and replacement of airframe and powerplant systems, components, and accessories.
  • All work is performed in accordance with applicable government, manufacturer's maintenance manuals, company directives, and other approved data.
  • May be required to use hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.
  • Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable Navy Instructions, manufacturer's manuals, and company instructions.
  • Knowledge of aircraft materials used and safety precautions as applicable Navy instructions.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Read, interpret, and apply instructions from blueprints, schematics, and other approved data.
  • Assist in ordering tools, parts, and material.
  • Document work accomplished on government and company electronic and/or manual information systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and assigned work area.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for adhering to the Tool Control Program.
  • Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.
  • Ensure proper operation and use of test equipment and Ground Support Equipment.
  • Perform corrosion control cleaning and removal as required utilizing precautions in the SDS for materials utilized to complete these tasks.
  • Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in classification.
  • Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.
  • May be required to remove and reinstall cowlings, doors, and panels to perform the duties of the job classification.
  • Pursuant to the specific provisions of the CBA, at the discretion of management, may be requested to perform the duties of Lead.
  • Perform aircraft maintenance away from home field within the local area (50 miles) when authorized.
  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory, and preservation of government owned and company owned equipment.
  • Assist with engine rinse by performing ground turns (if qualified and assigned).
  • Perform other related duties.


Qualification Standards:



  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years documented experience as a practicing aircraft mechanic (either fixed wing or helicopter).
  • Must meet any other qualification standard imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.


Physical Demands / Environmental Conditions:



  • Physical Effort: Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions.
  • May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds.
  • The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc.
  • May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.


Licensing / Certification Requirements:



  • FAA Airframes or Power Plants License (A&P) preferred.
  • Hazardous Materials Certification
  • Flight Control Rigging Certification
  • Hydraulic Fluid Sampling Certification
  • Aircraft Towing Certification
  • GSE Licensing
  • Physical as required by NAVAIR 3710.1Series
  • Valid State Driver License
  • Airfield Operators License
