Planner 2

The Planner 2 will be responsible for leading the Supply Chain activities for the assigned product portfolio to optimize inventory, minimize cost, and set and achieve customer service goals. This includes master planning, capacity planning, execution oversight and monitoring. The Planner 2 collaborates with the manufacturing sites to produce an optimal supply plan (build plan) and manages constraints as they arise.

What will you be doing?

  • Participate in meetings with key departments such as, Demand Planning, Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, Engineering, Purchasing and Product Development, to develop an accurate and timely master production schedule.
  • Understands concurrency change in supply planning and how changes impact the plan.
  • Is able to start a collaboration and ask someone to review and feedback in Rapid Respsone.
  • Review and validation of supply planning parameters (including NPD) in Rapid Response and SAP.
  • Review build plan and identify/resolve exceptions.
  • Complete assessment of Period over Period build plan changes, being able to clearly explain the variances.
  • Leverage Lean or Six Sigma tools for process improvement in order to increase service and optimize inventory.
  • Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP), High level capacity analysis of mfg sites' value streams and constraints. Understanding of manufacturing capabilities to support demand.
  • Provide oversight of manufacturing, inventory deployment and distribution to ensure customer service
  • Serve as primary contact with manufacturing for planning issues.
  • Conduct analysis and recommend solutions for inventory allocation where worldwide service is maximized.
  • Query databases for information required for decision-making.
  • Complete complex spreadsheet analysis during issue resolution or scenario planning and develop risk analysis and offer recommendations to management.
  • As part of the SIOP process, leads supply meetings to ensure schedule adherence, service levels and inventory targets are met. Communicates risks, elevates issues and recommend solutions that require management involvement.
  • Lead Weekly S&OE MFG Site meetings to ensure schedule adherence, service levels and inventory targets are met. Communicates risks, elevates issues and recommend solutions that require management involvement.
  • Ensures data integrity in planning systems by identifying and leading efforts to keep shop order and purchase order dates current.
  • Ensure personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

What will you need to be successful?

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Supply chain certification (APICS/ IBF) desirable

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience with a bachelors degree.
  • 2-4 years related experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must have strong understanding of forecasting techniques, inventory management, and capacity planning.
  • Must have advanced software skills. We will test for proficiency. Expert-level knowledge of advanced planning systems (APS) and ERP. Direct experience with SAP is a plus.

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $63,750 - $85,000 USD annually (or hourly)

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
