University of Colorado Denver Department: University Advising Job Title: Registration Specialist This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 9-months.
Job Summary:

Incoming first-year undergraduate students at CU Denver receive their orientation advising from the University Advising team in the Office of Academic Achievement. Registration Specialists meet with incoming first-year students via Zoom to review degree requirements and select classes for their first semester. Registration Specialists utilize various technologies and resources to assist students in selecting their classes. Registration Specialists work 8-20 hours per week during New Student Orientation season, which runs from mid-April to mid-August. There is a very specific Orientation schedule and Registration Specialists must be able to work all the Orientation sessions. Paid training (in-person, on campus) is provided! There will also be some in-person Registration Days. Applicant screening will begin on Thursday, Dec. 19 and will continue until positions are filled. Key Responsibilities:
- Attend onboarding and training sessions on advising practices, technology tools, degree planning tools, and campus resources, as well as University Advising mission, vision, processes and procedures
- Meet 1:1 with incoming first-year students
- Introduce new students to degree planning tools and assist them with course selection
- Record student course selection in Planner
- Record notes about student interactions in advising platform

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule - training will occur in-person in March and April. Most Registration Days will occur via Zoom, with some occurring in-person. All in-person work will occur on the downtown Denver campus. Full list of in-person and virtual commitments will be shared during the interview process.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience advising, tutoring, teaching, coaching, and/or mentoring students
- Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, and communication (written and oral) skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- A genuine interest and satisfaction in working with students, especially first-generation, diverse students
- Ability to learn new software
- Experience with new student orientation

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The hiring range for this position has been established at: $19.00 to $22.00 per hour. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Temporary employees are only eligible for sick leave benefits.
