Job Summary Provides vision, leadership and advocacy for the effective use of instructional strategies and technologies to advance effective teaching practices and student success. Develops and manages a strategic plan for technology, complex projects, departmental budget, designing and providing education and training for faculty and students, and manages personnel and resources.
Essential Functions
- Works collaboratively with faculty to promote a campus culture that values and recognizes the importance of teaching excellence and active student learning by facilitating faculty development initiatives that foster collaboration, scholarship, and adoption of innovative and best practices.
- Leads the strategic planning process to direct the implementation and use of learning technologies to support the College's mission and instructional goals.
- Facilitates collaboration among administration and faculty to justify, prioritize, and effectively implement strategic academic technology capital and operating budgets.
- Serves as Chair of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Committee and provides leadership in exploring, assessing, and piloting emerging technologies.
- Serves as liaison to Information Systems to coordinate capital planning, budgets, and collaborative projects to maximize resources and support for the College.
- Develops and manages relationships with technology vendors to provide excellent service and support for faculty and students.
- Provides leadership and manages the technology and instructional design personnel who support faculty and students in teaching and learning.
- Provides instructional design support for innovative teaching and learning strategies and provides pedagogical and technological expertise as needed to plan, design, re-design, build, and support all web-enhanced, hybrid, and online courses and programs.
- Develops and revises policies and procedures relevant to distance education to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and state regulations.
- Designs, develops, and facilitates the dissemination of training resources and materials to help improve student learning and student engagement.
- Works in consultation with administration and faculty to plan for the design of learning spaces; and with Student Affairs to meet the technology needs of students and support staff.
- Develops and maintains relationships across the System to maximize potential for resource sharing, collaborative projects, and opportunities to create efficiencies as appropriate.
- Participates in grant development to grow the use of academic technology and best teaching practices.
- Teaches one to two courses per year dependent upon the needs of the organization.

Education, Experience and Certifications
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Information Design, or related discipline required.
- Minimum two years related experience in postsecondary online course design and delivery.
- Expertise and experience with learning management systems.
- Experience in teaching, training, and designing postsecondary instruction.
- Knowledge of trends for emerging teaching and learning technologies.
- Knowledge of best practices in online pedagogy, course design, and faculty development.
- Experience in managing personnel, resources, projects, and budgets.
