GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general guidance of the medical director, the Physician Assistant will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with diseases and adverse health conditions following the written guidelines approved by the department. This APP will serve as a clinician for the Cardiovascular Surgery Service Line. They will first assist in the OR with the cardiac surgeons and will perform vein harvesting for the open heart, aortic dissection and valve replacement patients. Training for this service will include initial orientation, line placement training, training as a first assist and a vein harvester. Additionally, the APP may sit on committees and participate in Quality and Process Improvement Initiatives. This is an 8-hour position with on-call responsibilities as well as weekend coverage.
