Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Associate Director, responsible for three general areas of support for Career Center operations: 1. Support the Health Related Experiences (HRE) program, 2. General Career Center administration including a variety of administrative support activities from supporting events (logistics, catering, etc.), to inventory, purchasing, and serving as primary backup to Career Center Administrative Officer, 3. Administrative support for employer relations including evaluation and approval of postings and other administration of Handshake including serving as campus resource on the tool.

Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a professional office work environment.
  • Experience with researching and verifying on-line content for accuracy, especially as related to legitimacy of employers. Experience consistently interpreting and applying policies and procedures associated with part-time, career and internship positions.
  • Extensive customer service experience in a fast paced, professional office environment that requires independence and efficiency under multiple deadlines, including working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives and strong interpersonal skills to foster a supportive, collegial workplace. Oral and written communication skills, including use of proper grammar, punctuation, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with event planning and coordination. Experience with word processing, on-line survey tools, Excel, database management, Web updates and other on-line tools.
  • Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills to professionally request information from students, employers and colleagues and report back to Career Center colleagues regarding status of projects and collaborations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the variety and diversity of needs and employment practices among small businesses, large corporations, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Have knowledge of job classification and compensation processes and requirements.
  • Experience with vetting employers in accordance with the established guidelines, including but not limited to; NACE Principles for Professional Practice, as well as the U.S. Equal Opportunity and Nondiscrimination Laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act,
  • Effective organizational skills to independently track progress on projects including event registration, payments, required forms, applications, internship slots available, etc.

The Career Center, a dynamic team, providing innovative and comprehensive career services with a commitment to equitable access, has campus-wide responsibility for developing experiential education opportunities and for providing support for the career exploration and development process to students. This includes part time employment, career planning academic internships, other forms of experiential learning and career employment (or graduate school acceptance) upon graduation with a goal that students are employed in positions commensurate with their world-class education.
