Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO). The selected individual will support the Security Department in all aspects of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) via administrative functions and operations.

JOB DETAILS

Location: Huntsville, AL (onsite)

Job Type: Full-time

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with internal security policies and procedures implemented by the FSO.

  • Comply with the NISP, NISPOM Rule 32 CFR Part 117.

  • Ensure all classified materials safeguarded are compliant with the DOD, NISPOM and DCSA regulations and directives which govern receiving, inventory, safeguarding, marking, transporting, and destruction of classified information.

  • Review and prepare DD254s (customers and subcontractors)

  • Onboarding/Debriefing employees for multiple government contracts (to include initial clearances, upgrades, fingerprinting, CAC issuances/revocations, VAR submissions, SCI nominations, etc.)

  • Maintain Classified Consultant Security Agreements and records

  • Distribute and track completion of initial and refresher employee security briefings.

  • Assist employees with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) compliance.

  • Submit Adverse Reporting

  • Maintain a visitor control program that clearly protects sensitive areas and elements of intellectual property and classified information from unauthorized disclosure.

  • Assist the FSO with various physical security badging and security credentialing to support project work and Visit Authorization Requests.

  • Perform classified safeguarding inventory and tasks related to DCSA compliance.

  • In conjunction with the FSO, participate in internal and external security reviews and perform self-assessment inspections to ensure compliance with government regulations.

  • Review and manage SF86 background investigations through the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) system, ensuring end-to-end oversight from initial submission through final adjudication.

  • Perform tasks in support of physical security, Operations Security (OPSEC), security awareness, and other security programs designed to protect company employees, U.S. Government information, and corporate property.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience:
    • At least 1-2 years of industrial security experience

    • Experience working with NBIS and DISS as an account holder

    • Completed FSO for Possessing Facilities certification (or obtain within 6 months)

    • Strong communication, analytical, computer, and interpersonal skills

    • Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail and follow-through

    • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED; Successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

  • Clearance:
    • Active Secret Clearance required; Top Secret preferred or the ability to obtain one.

  • Associate's degree from an accredited university in a related field
