Position Summary

In June 2020, the California Department of Education selected the Principal Leadership Institute (PLI) at the Berkeley School of Education to serve as both the regional and statewide centers for the 21st Century California School Leadership Academy (21 CSLA) program. The 21 CSLA program is designed to support and improve the skills of school leaders at multiple levels - from teacher leaders at Title II schools through system leaders - as they work toward improving campus culture and climate, creating more equitable learning environments, and ultimately boosting student success. This investment in the BSE's Leadership Programs is an extraordinary affirmation of PLI's impact on educational leadership in the State of California over the last 20 years.

The Research Data Analyst will support the research activities of the 21st Century California School Leadership Academy (21CSLA). Responsibilities include:
gathering, analyzing, and interpreting a wide variety of research data. This position designs and conducts research including selecting data samples, developing research instruments, analyzing collected information according to established statistical methods, and developing recommendations based on research findings; Prepares reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids to interpret and communicate data and results.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts statistical studies in support of research proposals and protocols.
  • Maintains and develops research gathering, retrieval and reporting systems.
  • Collaborates on the design, documentation, testing and implementation of research studies.
  • Prepares reports and / or analyses for internal department constituents.
  • May be involved in researching, evaluating and selecting new data reporting products.
  • Assists in developing systems for organizing data to analyze, identify and report trends.
  • Gathers and analyzes research data; prepares and summarizes information and / or recommendations.
Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of research function.
  • Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures.
  • Working skills in analysis and consultation.
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Complex quantitative analysis skills using SPSS, r, or equivalent.
  • Data Visualization skills using Tableau or equivalent
  • Writing skills that are commensurate with research and policy-oriented publications
  • Bachelor's degree or above in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time, 2-year contract position. Extension is possible with continued funding.
