How you will make history here... The Controls Engineer will create the strategic vision for controls, automation, plant floor network systems, and electrical engineering needs throughout the plant. This individual will fulfill the role of site subject matter expert on automation, controls, plant floor network systems and facility electrical systems, and will provide capital project leadership and controls expertise for the specification, installation, start-up, and operation of plant equipment. The role will support maintenance training and advanced troubleshooting of equipment controls and plant floor network systems, and support the execution of the plant's annual capital plan with emphasis on electrical systems, controls, automation, and plant floor network projects. The above responsibilities shall help the plant team attain the Company's overall strategic objectives, with a focus on safety, product quality, total delivered cost, low-cost supply chain systems, and plant efficiency. What you will do...
(30%) Create and execute on strategic vision for automation, controls systems and Controls Technician team members. Take initiative to develop new approaches and solutions that align with Company strategy and plant objectives. Participate in defining engineering standards. Site subject matter expert on manufacturing automation equipment, plant floor network systems and controls systems; supporting both new equipment installations and optimization of existing equipment. Have functional and technical responsibilities across multiple engineering disciplines. (25%) Develop and manage or participate on capital projects of various funding levels including estimation, equipment specifications, project approvals, vendor selection and management, equipment installations, startup activities, and training. (20%) Support advanced troubleshooting, maintenance and/or repair of the plant computer driven controls systems and the plant mechanical and electromechanical equipment in conjunction with Controls Technicians and maintenance personnel. Identify and implement training and resources needed for direct reports and maintenance personnel. (15%) Provide active technical support to Plant Operations to drive performance objectives and improvement initiatives. Support all plant departments and cross-functional focus groups by providing expertise and resources to assist in resolution of departmental or specific objectives. Identify, either independently or in conjunction with others, capital improvement project opportunities that, when implemented, successfully meet the specified criteria relative to the overall operating strategy and objectives of the plant. (5%) Support the Regional IT Manager to perform the implementation and maintenance of computer-based information systems. Help evaluate plant IT needs and make recommendations to the Regional IT Manager and Engineering & Maintenance Manager for hardware/software, peripherals, etc., including capital projects. (5%) Perform other duties as directed including support to other Company plants, if needed.
Job Complexity (provide several examples of typical work-related problems that this position is expected to resolve):
Automation and Controls expertise and ability to resolve issues on Wonderware, Allen Bradley and HMI PLC platforms. Resolve complex scheduling and technical issues with multi-trade contractors, construction managers, equipment fabricators, design engineering firms, and Company representatives. Oversee and approve all aspects of design and installation, scheduling, and capital funds. Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability and throughput. Identify and execute complex and multi-disciplined projects to support the key objectives of the plant relative to safety, people, quality, delivery, and costs. Effectively build, leverage, and manage cross-functional relationships to address issues and opportunities to support successful delivery of projects to specifications, on budget, and on time that meet current and future business requirements. Apply continuous improvement tools and concepts to each project, identifying the appropriate solution to each issue/ challenge from available options, to deliver optimal results and maximum positive impact to plant performance. Overcome employee resistance to change by developing and effectively communicating the business rationale for key projects and drive acceptance of these projects and their expected outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits: The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $94,200-$135,400
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
