Responsibilities

Dover Behavioral Health System is a 104-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Dover, Delaware area. Dover Behavioral Health System features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Dover Behavioral Health System. Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the all ongoing correspondence activities related to the patient's health record, and its availability, integrity, and confidentiality of patient's information
  • Responsible for fostering high levels of customer service in coordinating all information provided to customers and their families and caregivers and ensuring that they receive appropriate, timely, and accurate health information about the services provided by caregivers, financial services, social services and other medical and legal entities
  • Print all dictated reports from transcriptionist service and electronic records from computer and file reports appropriately and retrieve discharge charts from all units on a daily basis (excluding weekends and holidays)
  • Manage all requests and inquiries for patient information, dispersing the information with accountability to all regulation entities and according to the facility's policies and procedures and enter all releases of patient information into the AS-400 data base for tracking disclosure of patient's information
  • Break-down/analyze patient discharge charts and assembles components in the correct discharge order and places them in folders
  • Facilitate the purging of closed charts as needed and coordinates retrieval with the records storage company
  • Practice the utmost confidentiality and customer service to patients and their families and provide information to internal and external customers in a timely, professional and courteous manner clearly and concisely in verbally and written form

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent; previous medical records experience preferred

*UHS benefits are available to employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week. Coverage is effective on day 31 of employment. Eligibility for employees who are scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week varies by location.
