General Notes

Nurse Practitioner will have a coordinated work schedule that shifts between The UT School of Nursing Wellness Center Family Clinic located in Austin, TX and the Children's Clinic located in Del Valle, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Provide primary healthcare services in a clinical setting under the supervision and direction of a delegating physician. Responsible for the performance of tasks of a standardized nature, which are complex and require considerable experience or specialized training, but which do not constitute the practice of medicine. Obtains complete medical and psychiatric historical data from patients.

  • Performs physical examinations, using techniques of observation, auscultation, palpation and percussion or performs psychiatric evaluations, using advanced training in diagnosing and management of psychiatric issues. Discriminates in examinations between the normal variations and abnormal deviations. Considers examination findings and diagnostic test results in formulating and implementing a plan of care. Performs related duties as required.

  • May develop standards of care, patient education materials, and assist in the supervision of nursing and ancillary staff.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in nursing, or its equivalent. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Registration with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners and Texas Board of Nurse Examiner's approval to practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Four years of primary health care experience as a nurse practitioner. Proficient as a Spanish speaker. Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than four years of experience as a nurse practitioner. Experience with rural health or indigent care preferable.

Salary Range

$71,976 - $93,600+ negotiable depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions. May work around biohazards. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Lifting and moving.
