Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must posses a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record prior to driving on district business.
  • Minimum Education Qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.



Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess:

  • 3 years of collegiate coaching experience
  • Head Coaching Experience
  • Experience/Knowledge of NJCAA and NCAA Baseball rules and regulations
  • Experience/Knowledge of NJCAA Compliance and Eligibility rules and regulations
  • Experience maintaining a baseball field



Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday, however, regular night and weekend work is required. Regular travel is required.


Compensation
Salary is commensurate with education and experience

Class Summary
Full-time, exempt position responsible for coordinating the athletics programs and for coaching a college athletic team.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Supervises all part-time staff in the Softball program to include: prioritizing and assigning work; preparing work schedules; conducting performance evaluations; coordinating staff training; and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
  • Coordinate and supervise all operations of the Softball team; work involves but is not limited to scheduling practice and games; supervising game day setup; purchasing and inventory of equipment and uniforms; completing college travel, purchasing, and expenditure paperwork; maintaining athletic facilities as assigned; and ensuring compliance with NJCAA and MCC rules, regulations, policies and procedures under the direction of the Athletic Director.
  • Manages Sports Information for the Athletic Department under the direction of the Athletic Director; work involves but is not limited to writing stories/recaps for MCC Sports programs, creating social media graphics, scheduling media, and maintaining the MCC Athletics Website.
  • Recruit student-athletes for the Softball team; work involves but is not limited to attending games/tournaments; holding tryouts; researching and speaking to high school/club coaches; conducting campus visits and tours; meeting with academic and financial aid departments; and recommending athletic scholarship recipients.\
  • Oversees and manages assigned budget; work includes but is not limited to monitoring expenditures; analyzing financial information to budget funds for team meals, travel, officials, equipment and other operational expenses; maintains fiscal records and processes to ensure compliance with budget and other applicable guidelines.
  • Manage the preparation, performance and evaluation of student-athletes; work includes buts not limited to the development of student-athletes' athletic skills; position-specific instruction and training; organizing and managing the off/in-season physical conditioning and training; and monitoring student-athletes academic progress. These duties are typically performed with input from assistant coaches.
  • Prepares, maintains, and reviews financial and general reports, records, files, promotional materials, and other documentation; work may involve researching, compiling, and analyzing information, and making recommendations based on findings.
  • Supports the college's student-athlete success program; work involves but is not limited to collaborating with campus academic and student support services staff; setting up early enrollment sessions; supervising study halls; and monitoring and reporting the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure continuing eligibility to participate and graduate.
  • Coordinate and supervise fundraising; community service and leadership development activities; and camps for assigned athletic team. Coordinates with housekeeping and facilities staff, tenants, the marketing department, and other internal and external staff departments, and agencies to communicate information, receive student information, promote and market departments, raise funds, and facilitate departmental operations.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with student-athletes, parents, administration, internal and external constituents.
