Position Description:
A Project Appointment-RESEARCHER (PA-RESEARCHER) classification can be utilized for a foreign national temporarily at MCW as a doctoral level scientist for the purposes of acquiring a new research skill/s or technique (similar to a sabbatical).
Attributes of a Project Appointment:
- PA-RESEARCHERS are hired when the individual desires to learn a new set of skills or techniques within a laboratory at MCW. The skills to be acquired must be detailed in the offer letter.
- There is no expectation of continued employment.
- The duration of the PA-RESEARCHER appointment cannot exceed one year.
- The start and termination dates must both be stated in the offer letter.
Primary Functions
- Review medical records for clinical databases.
- Generate letters to be sent to study participants.
- Under direct guidance, assist with coordination of basic study activities.
- Accurately enter research data into specified programs or databases.
- Compile study visit packets, recruitment and specimen collection kits.
- Process patient specimens for clinical research studies.
- Assist in generating manuscripts.
- Participate in meetings with principle investigator and research staff.
- Analyze the data using statistical algorithm
- Assist with preparing manuscripts
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
Required knowledge: statistics, documentation, records management, data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, writing skills, neurosurgical background, familiarity with excel and Microsoft, interpersonal skills.
