Job Description

Summary:
Perform skilled work on a journey level in the cutting, installation and maintenance of glass. All work is subject to spot checking and inspection for conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade.

Key Responsibilities:
Install glass in windows, skylights, store fronts, and display cases, or on surfaces, such as building fronts, interior walls, ceilings, and tabletops. May install stained glass windows.

Install mirrors or structural glass on building fronts, walls, ceilings, or tables, using mastic, screws or decorative molding.

Set glass doors into frame and fit hinges. Bolt metal hinges, handles, locks, and other hardware to prefabricated glass doors. May install metal window and door frames into which glass panels are to be fitted. May assemble and install metal-framed glass enclosures for showers.

Observe and enforce all safety requirements related to equipment operation. Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment.

May press plastic adhesive film to class or spray glass with tinting solution to prevent light glare.

May perform or assist with preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance of records.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift

7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Monday thru Friday

Minimum Qualifications

* A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
* Four years of actual work experience and training, including the equivalent of apprenticeship or vocational training, in the trade.
* Ability to read blueprints, plans, and drawings.
* Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of applicable trade.
* Ability on a daily basis to:
- Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment.
- Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy (50-80 lbs.) objects.
- Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc.
- Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs.
- Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
* A valid driver's license may be required.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $22.00 - $28.90 hourly

Grade: GGS-E
