Summary: The Technical Advisor will provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to address data science trends, technologies, challenges, and strategies in the public health research field.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrate advanced technological capabilities for using data and analytics to guide investigations and interventions to health emergencies.
- Coordinate and collaborate with various stakeholders engaged in scientific data generation, management, and analysis.
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of a data science, analytics platform for the center using multi-modal large-scale data.
- Identify and prioritize scientific and technological information, assess analytic needs, and summarize key research findings to provide strategy recommendations for future research and development needs.
- Provide technical consultation for scientific and information technology services.
- Support efforts to provide intuitive user interface/use experience for communicating complex scientific data.
- Summarize key research findings to provide strategy recommendations for future research and development needs.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines during public health emergencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience translating technical findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD
- At least 8-10 years of related experience.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Above 10 years of experience.
- Experience in infectious disease modeling, outbreak analytics, or public health emergency response.
- Familiarity with CDC systems, processes, and datasets.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and with government or international public health organizations.
