Job Summary

The Technology Manager for the Community Safety Simulation Center (CSSC) leverages their expertise in law enforcement to enhance simulation authenticity and participant learning experiences. This role integrates advanced simulation technologies, maintains equipment reliability, and ensures seamless operations while aligning programs with industry standards and real-world scenarios. The manager oversees equipment maintenance, data-driven resource planning, and confidential scenario management while facilitating high-quality, trauma-informed simulations. Collaborating with IT teams, vendors, and content designers, they develop innovative training materials, manage digital assets, and produce impactful video content. Additionally, the position supports the center's growth by cultivating partnerships, designing realistic simulations, and promoting offerings through strategic marketing efforts. By combining technical expertise, law enforcement experience, and collaborative program development, the Technology Manager ensures the center remains a leader in safety education and community engagement.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.

Technology Innovation and Equipment Maintenance

  • Research and integrate advanced simulation technologies to establish the center as a leader in educational innovation and optimize participant learning experiences.

  • Develop and implement systems to maintain training equipment, materials, and facilities at peak performance, coordinating timely repairs and upgrades to ensure uninterrupted programming.

  • Collaborate with the Northcentral Technical College (NTC) IT department and vendor IT support to evaluate and enhance the reliability of simulation operations.

  • Analyze and maintain confidential, detailed records of equipment and simulation usage, tracking wear, inventory, and usage patterns to inform data-driven maintenance and strategic resource planning.

Program Facilitation and Participant Support

  • Design and lead simulation experiences, guiding participants to achieve safe, impactful, and high-quality learning outcomes.

  • Facilitate and deliver comprehensive safety education sessions, ensuring content is engaging, relevant, and aligned with established safety standards and best practices.

  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate simulation programming to ensure scenarios align with educational objectives and regulatory standards.

  • Create and sustain psychologically safe learning environments by embedding trauma-informed care principles into simulations and debriefings.

  • Formulate and enforce policies for staff and participants to ensure safety, order, and consistency in center operations.

Media and Content Creation and Management

  • Design and implement a production schedule to ensure timely delivery of digital content, optimizing transitions from planning through execution.

  • Direct casting calls, evaluate auditions, and select actors to achieve authenticity and excellence in simulation scenarios.

  • Collaborate with the content design team to innovate and create engaging simulation experiences that align with strategic objectives and participant needs.

  • Develop and manage a proprietary content system to analyze and oversee the secure storage, organization, and archival of digital assets, ensuring efficiency and long-term usability.

  • Expand and evaluate program offerings by integrating new classroom training options, scheduling updates, and enhancing participant engagement through data-driven insights.

  • Lead the production of high-quality video content in partnership with the Community Safety Simulation Center Manager and videography team, ensuring alignment with the center's educational goals.

  • Establish recording protocols in coordination with security teams and oversee site management during production sessions to ensure smooth operations and compliance.

  • Evaluate post-production processes to ensure all simulation content meets the center's objectives, adheres to industry standards, and delivers measurable impact.

Collaboration and Business Planning

  • Develop and evaluate strategies to advance the center's growth by innovating program offerings, increasing participant engagement, and cultivating sustainable partnerships.

  • Collaborate with the Workforce Training and Professional Development (WTPD) team to strategically promote the center across the NTC district, analyzing opportunities to maximize awareness and utilization of its capabilities.

  • Establish and sustain high-value partnerships with community stakeholders, including healthcare organizations, K-12 schools, religious institutions, and industries, to co-create tailored, impactful training simulations.

  • Design and refine realistic, high-quality simulation scenarios in collaboration with internal and external safety and security experts, ensuring alignment with educational goals and industry needs.

  • Evaluate and secure funding opportunities by identifying grants and building partnerships that align with the center's strategic growth objectives.

  • Partner with NTC's marketing team to design and execute effective promotional strategies, ensuring alignment with the institution's mission and stakeholder needs

Minimum Qualifications Required

In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or equivalent military experience

Experience:4 Years

Additional Experience Information:

  • At least 4000 hours of Law Enforcement experience, with a variety of experiences such as patrol, investigative, specialized training, crisis intervention, etc.

  • 1-3 years of strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience leading teams, required.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.

  • Experience with innovative educational technology, educational or operational technology, required.

  • Public relations and public speaking experience, required.

  • Experience or training in Trauma Informed Care, required or willing to obtain training.

  • Experience in working with diverse populations required.

  • School Resource Officer experience, preferred.

  • Experience in training or instruction in educational, professional or community settings, preferred
