Job Title: Financial Advisor (In-Branch)

Department: Investments & Planning Solutions (IPS)

Department Location: Lunenburg, MA

Reports to: VP, IPS Program Manager

Compensation: Benefit from a compensation plan that includes a competitive commission payout grid with a structured monthly draw. This opportunity will come with a "book of business" of existing clients to get started!

Function: Sell investment and insurance products, available through our Broker Dealer, to individuals and small businesses by providing investment strategies, planning solutions, and product recommendations.

Essential Duties:
  • Serve members and potential members by assessing their financial position, resources available, financial goals and risk tolerance. Provide information and advice on the purchase (or sale) of investment and insurance products that best suit the individual needs of the member/client.
  • Manage an assigned branch territory by making regular on-site visits to be available for member consultations. Partner with branch staff in efforts to outreach to additional members to offer our financial planning services. (In-Branch)
  • Actively and regularly coaches and educates branch staff and internal business partners to identify investment opportunities. Drives investment education and visibility among branch staff. In partnership with branch manager and/or investment sales associate, leads the branch team on actions to achieve investment results. Shows urgency with activities and leads by example. Has regular and effective communication with internal and external partners to build strong relationships that drive referral activity. (In-Branch)
  • Regularly meets with branch manager and other internal business partners to communicate and review business results and pipeline management. Meets service level agreements on lead and referral follow up. Adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines. (In-Branch)
  • Manage, service and grow an existing investment and insurance book of business through client meetings. Build strong client relationships that lead to additional business opportunities and additional client referrals.
  • Follow regulatory directives in accordance with current laws, rules, regulations, and directives of the FINRA, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Massachusetts Division of Banks, the National Credit Union Administration, and other applicable government agencies
  • Accurately track all sales activity, provide information and reports to parties within Workers on a regular and as requested basis.
  • Conduct business within the framework of policies and procedures adopted by the Credit Union.
  • Participate in member education seminars on saving for retirement, financial planning, and related topics.
  • Regularly demonstrates behaviors as defined by the credit union's Fundamentals, which are part of the Workers Wisdom culture program.
  • Cross-sell products and services of the Credit Union best suited to the financial needs of the client/member. Partnering with other business units to recommend and refer existing clients into the Workers Way and/or for additional products and services that are available.
  • Assist with the training of Credit Union staff on investment and insurance products, services, and appropriate operational features.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:

Three years employment experience in a sales function selling financial products and services at a financial institution; current FINRA Series 6, 63, and 65 licenses required, Series 7 and 66 preferred; MA certified life insurance license; excellent interpersonal, organizational skills. Must maintain required federal and state law continuing education requirements. Analytical skills relating to financial information and calculations to assist with investment and financial planning activities. Ability to be self-directed and to maintain confidentiality in all client relations. Knowledge of credit unions and credit union products/services and automated technology. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Activities/Requirements:

Able to communicate orally with co-workers and members. Able to operate computer keyboard and other office machines that require finger dexterity and repetitive motion. Visual acuity necessary to prepare/inspect documents. Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. Sedentary work, sitting most of the time. Ability to operate a motor vehicle for travel to branch locations and occasional off-site travel for business purposes.
