Reporting to the VP Finance-Kentucky Trailer Group, the Assistant Controller's primary responsibility is for all financial aspects of the Kentucky Manufacturing/Truck Body business unit including accurate and timely recording of transactions and preparation of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The successful candidate will oversee cash management processes, payroll, A/R, A/P, tax, and ensure all financial policy requirements are met. As a business partner and contributing member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Assistant Controller will assist with strategic planning, assume ownership of the annual budget process, and provide an array of analyses to maintain and improve profitability. Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage staff accountants to oversee transactional processing, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for building and organizing a high-performing finance team. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance with 5+ years of relevant experience is required - a master's degree and/or CPA/CMA certification is a plus; supervisory experience and knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, cost accounting in a manufacturing environment, and inner-workings of ERP systems is also required (Sage X3 experience preferred). The candidate must be highly proficient in Excel and be comfortable using a variety of software packages and platforms to accumulate, manipulate, and analyze data.
