HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION

The Lead Building and Grounds Attendant under general direction schedules, assigns and inspects the work of crews engaged in keeping building and/or grounds areas clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly. This position reports to a Supervisor /Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO



  • Inspects and evaluates work of Building and Grounds Attendants.
  • Ensures all Attendants are familiar with the cleaning schedule.
  • Makes sure work assignments are completed on time.
  • Assists Attendants.
  • Instructs and assists Attendants in special set-up.
  • Inspects equipment.
  • May serve as acting supervisors in absence.
  • Performs special cleaning duties as required.
  • Ensures crew has adequate and proper supplies for assigned work.
  • Assists at special events, parties, and meetings.
  • Meets requirements, or higher, in all categories of annual performance evaluation.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is seeking a candidates that are able to work an evening schedule from approximately 3:00pm to 11:30pm including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply.



  • JOB EXPERIENCE

    • One year of lead or supervisory experience is desirable.


  • EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

    • Education, training and/or experience which would clearly demonstrate the essential functions, knowledge and skills as outlined. An example of which would be two or more years of building maintenance and cleaning experience.
    • Current valid California Driver's license in good standing.


  • SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Principles of supervision and training.

      • Methods of organizing and laying out work.
      • Basic arithmetic.
      • Simple record keeping.
      • Effective leadership practices.
      • Effectively supervise large crews.
      • Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and other employees.
      • Understand and carry out instructions.
      • Estimate time and materials.
      • Communicate and work effectively with others in a diverse environment.
      • Motivate others.
      • Multi-task and prioritize.
      • Perform each essential job function at a high level.
