Job Title: Social Services Aide

FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Social Services Case Manager

Schedule: 25 hour per week

Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $12.34/hr

Closing Date: 2/1/2025

Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:



  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
  • Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service) with at least 21 hours worked per week.


POSITION SUMMARY: The Social Services Aide is an advocate. They are responsible for providing front-line and follow-up assistance to individuals presenting a variety of needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Perform casework services to include client interviews, need assessments, and case management.
  2. Work within the approved budget to provide emergency food and direct financial assistance.
  3. Conduct home visits and support community outreach events and distributions as directed.
  4. Assist with the receiving and processing of food as directed by the Social Services Case Manager.
  5. Assist with the packing of food boxes as directed by the Social Services Case Manager.
  6. Assist Case Manager with the preparation and submission of reports and statistics.
  7. Assist Case Manager with maintenance of an active information and referral system.
  8. Assist Case Manager with the maintenance of all filing systems - both hard copies and computer files - as they pertain to Social Services.
  9. Be familiar with and adhere to all funding source guidelines (United Way, EFSP, etc.).
  10. Process incoming mail per Salvation Army policy.
  11. Answer and direct incoming phone calls as needed.
  12. Preform light janitorial duties as needed (vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing, etc.)
  13. Be familiar with and maintain Protecting the Mission compliance.
  14. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required; including but not limited to Divisional/Territorial Social Services Conferences, Protecting the Mission - child safety training, and The Salvation Army fleet safety training.
  15. Assist with seasonal efforts, which may include but are not limited to: Summer Camp Registrations, Christmas Intake/Distribution, toy sorting, and data entry.
  16. Adherence to employee dress codes while working.
  17. Other duties as assigned by Social Services Case Manager / Corps Officers.

  1. Possess the ability to work well independently and in a detailed, professional and courteous


manner.



  1. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. Must be a High School graduate or equivalent. An AA degree or comparable years of work experience preferred.
  2. Ability to use basic office machines/equipment.
  3. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point) and


possess the ability to use social media.



  1. Able to pass a motor vehicle check as well as complete The Salvation Army driving test.
  2. Must submit to and pass a background check.
  3. Must complete Protecting the Mission - child safety training.
  4. Must possess a valid Driver's License and be a minimum of 21 years old.


WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, run, jump, and twist on an intermittent and sometimes continuous basis. Maintain the ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, reach overhead, and carry office supplies. Maintain the ability to operate a computer, telephone, and similar technologies. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
