Safety Officers are responsible for:




  • Monitors and observes clients to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Assist in site based investigations, safety and security training facilitation, safety audits, and monitoring of safety systems.
  • Conducts on-site PREA and misconduct investigations.
  • Collects and analyzes evidence, interview witnesses and suspects.
  • Monitors surveillance cameras and properly addresses and reports observed actions that are in violation of policy or campus procedures.


  • Performs drug testing, collects urine samples from clients for laboratory screening and administers breathalyzer to clients for detection of alcohol use randomly and upon clients' return from trips.
  • Drives vehicles in order to transport clients.
  • Assist Campus Safety Manager in facilitating trainings on safety related issues and conducting safety related audits.
  • Other duties as assigned



Job Requirements:




  • High School diploma or Associate's Degree preferred
  • 6 months experience as a DCM or one (1) year experience in a correctional treatment setting
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in multimedia technology
  • Critical thinking, problem solving skills, and deductive reasoning, and social perceptiveness



Physical Requirements:




  • Ability to read, write, and understand and follow written instructions
  • Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data
  • Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy
  • Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
  • Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations
