Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We're Looking For:

Iridium is seeking a Manager, Agile Program who is looking to take an exciting next step in their career supporting a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a Manager, Agile Program, you will be be responsible for identifying and autonomously implementing ideas and solutions in support of delivering high quaity software that meets our customer's critical needs. In this role, you'll be responsible for providing Agile team guidance on best practices and support in running Scrum and Kanban. What You'll Do:

    Foster and develop a highly effective team of Scrum Masters to drive continuous improvement, facilitate Agile best practices, and support successful delivery of high-quality software aligned with customer and organizational goals
  • Mentor and train your team by performing regular check-ins, discussing career growth opportunities, giving constructive feedback, and acknowledging performance issues when necessary
  • Manage JIRA boards and backlog for sprint execution and burn down reports
  • Collaborate with the Product Owners and Scrum Teams on requirements decomposition, backlog grooming and refinement, and story prioritization
  • Work with the customer to understand their priorities and ensure development team works stories according to the customer priority
  • Mobilize the team to update physical and electronic Agile tracking systems to provide transparency on product backlogs and in-progress work, supporting Development Managers and Project/Product Managers as necessary
  • Play a key role in ensuring that development teams are practicing/following core Agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
  • Investigate and recommend continuous process improvement, including active facilitation of reviews and retrospectives and incorporation of lessons learned for future sprints
  • Drive preparation efforts with the development of high-level designs with all business rules, limitations and assumptions thoroughly documented


Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information, or related field
  • 8+ years of related software development life cycle experience
  • Previous management experience
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in Agile, specifically Scrum and Kanban
  • Knowledge and experience using the Atlassian tool suite
  • Prior experience as a Scrum Master for Agile Development teams
  • Must be able to diagnose system business/process improvements
  • Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your team and role modelling commitment to your team's goals
  • Have a team-oriented mentality and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with others and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues to groups outside of your team or those who are unfamiliar with the topic
  • Be able to analyze and understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with new and unique solutions
  • Be self-motivated and possess a high degree of creativity, independence, and resourcefulness
  • Have a strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion and be motivated to achieve outcomes and results
  • Can thrive in a dynamic environment and efficiently manage multiple projects for yourself and your team while making sure to meet deadlines

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Certification
  • Prior experience supporting geographically dispersed agile development teams
  • Working knowledge and/or certification in SAFe methodology
  • Experience supporting Program Increment planning
  • Knowledge and experience with the Department of Defense project life cycle

We'll also need you to:

  • Be able to travel up to 10%
  • Be a U.S. citizen

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in-person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
