SUMMARY

Under moderate supervision, perform a variety of duties including but not limited to the operation and programming of a 3 axis non-abrasive CNC waterjet and CNC router, utilizing AutoCAD, IGEMS, and/or Mastercam software to develop Water Jet cut files and/or CNC routers files; breakdown drawings for efficient utilization of stock materials and assembly. Perform set up and operation duties to prepare and construct foam sub-components and inserts to fit a variety of container configurations, sizes. Conduct thorough first piece inspections and demonstrate effective cost savings measures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Utilize AutoCAD, IGEMS, and/or Mastercam software to develop cut files for Water Jet and CNC router equipment while considering design complexity and ensure optimal breakdown of components for cost purposes, clarity of assembly and other critical factors.
  • Configure and download files to Water Jet, and CNC Router software control; set adjustments, pressure and other vital information according to order and material specifications.
  • Operate Water Jet and/or CNC Router to obtain proper cuts and pieces with minimal or no waste.
  • Takes verbal and or/written instructions and follows blueprints, Bill of Material (BOM) and/or assembly drawings.
  • Break down engineering prints/drawings into components that best utilize stock materials and allow assembly operations to be performed in the most efficient manner.
  • Work closely with engineering, drafting and estimators to communicate errors or propose changes, which would make work more efficient.
  • Reads prints and drawings. Plan sequence of operations; maximize stock usage, build-ups and other related activities necessary for layout of subcomponent and unit construction and assembly for a variety of first time and repeat insert requirements.
  • Conduct thorough first piece inspections by self-checking own work for completeness, accuracy, meeting standards, fits and stack-ups.
  • Operate vertical, horizontal, profile power band saws.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze Water Jet and CNC Router operational controls and hardware.
  • Select stock; cut sheet stock to proper dimensions and tolerances.
  • Responsible for the programming and operation of the machinery.
  • Actively supports Pelican's commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of Solid Edge/Solid Works CAD programming experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Four (4) years of CAD programming experience
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

The approximate base compensation range is shown below. The actual offer may vary based on skills, experience and location.
