Human Resources Generalist (Anchorage)

What You Will Do:

As a Human Resources Generalist, you will play an essential role within our Human Resources department, reporting to the Director of Human Resources. The Human Resources Generalist assists in the coordination and administration of daily Human Resources processes including administration of leave management, recruitment, and training.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:



  • Administer various human resources plans and procedures for ENSTAR personnel; assist in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Administer and track FMLA and Disability Leave programs
  • Administer employee Wellness Program.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Affirmative Action program
  • Maintain other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations
  • Perform outreach efforts to diversify candidate pools to include minority groups
  • Coordinate and administers recruitment activities. Develop and conduct strategic recruitment efforts for ENSTAR personnel; actively sources candidates, conduct/assist with interviews, pre-employment requirements, and conduct new-employee orientations.
  • Track and administer represented pay grade increases.
  • Create Personnel Action Notices for employee information changes, track approval process.
  • Assist with company's random drug and alcohol testing programs and pre-employment drug testing programs as required.
  • Assist with benefit administration as required.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend HR related seminars.
  • Maintain ENSTAR's organization chart.
  • Recommend new approaches, best practices, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Prepare workforce reports as required.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Assist with labor relations and union negotiations.
  • Coordinate employee/leader training as required.
  • Maintain employee personnel records.
  • Maintain confidentiality as required.
  • Backfill for the Senior HR Generalist duties as needed, including benefits and HRIS.


What You Will Bring:

Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor Degree in business, human resources, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • One to three years of HR experience.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Alaska Driver's License and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the ENSTAR's Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a background, past employment, drug, and driving record screening..


Preferred skills and qualifications:



  • Excellent organizational, management, judgment, and project management skills with the ability to accurately and confidentially process and maintain data.
  • Human Resources knowledge and ability to perform related tasks.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to evaluate data, compile statistics, and prepare reports, graphs, tables, and charts using Excel/Access (Power BI experience preferred but not required).
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of various personal computer business software applications presently used by ENSTAR and ability to learn new systems or software packages as necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to prepare clear and understandable written documentation and communication materials.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations.
