Temple University's Klein College of Media & Communications is searching for a General Manager of TUTV.

Salary Grade: T28

Job Summary:

The General Manager of TUTV (Temple University Television and templetv.net) reporting to the Senior Vice Dean will be responsible for station management, staff supervision. Oversees content development, production and execution for major projects that appear on air, online and on social media along with fiscal management. Serves as the station compliance officer for broadcast standards for TUTV and oversees the station's agreement with the city of Philadelphia and the platform's relationship with Comcast and Verizon cable outlets. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's and six (6) years related professional production experience.

Working knowledge of industry standards in television and video equipment, including cameras, switchers, and audio boards. Extensive multi-media experience, successfully managing a broadcast, cable or streaming platform with significant LIVE programming capability, substantial production of original programming plus high value online and social assets. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:



  • Must understand strategic application of online and social media platforms.
  • Must be a creative, industrious, insightful manager who is capable of strategic thinking, innovative thought, and offering clearly articulated guidance and direction, while motivating the station's professional staff, student volunteers and associated Temple stakeholders.
  • Must be adept at programming, production, and promotion..
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage relationships to enhance TUTV's content base, while elevating the station's profile and, above all, developing high quality, professional opportunities for our students.
  • Familiarity with the rubric of experiential learning.
  • Must have fully articulated, entrepreneurial skills, with an understanding of finance, commerce, and the ability to cultivate gifts of financial support from potential donors, as well as grants from foundations and government sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate the complexities of TUTV's myriad relationships with Klein college, Temple University, the city of Philadelphia, community partners, professional media organizations, independent producers, media trade organizations (i.e.: NATAS mid-Atlantic, Philly ad club, R.T.D.N.A., B.E.A.& more), while adhering to the highest ethical standards
  • Must be tenacious and relentless in the search for new opportunities to explore new technologies to adapt, that make TUTV more efficient, effective, and engaging for our students, colleagues, partners, and audiences across all platforms.
  • Ability to work extended hours and overtime.


Preferred:



  • Teaching experience in Media and/or Production
  • Familiarity with the rubric of experiential learning.
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Must have cultivated respectful and reciprocal work relationships with professionals who are working across the media landscape, locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
