Position Overview
This is a skilled position requiring knowledge and training in the area of computational structural biology of macromolecules, specifically structure-based modeling of protein assemblies. The Assistant Researcher, Senior will conduct research to forward the development of the modeling of macromolecular interaction. They will also be engaged in developing proposals for new funding sources, publishing and presenting research topics as applicable.

Job Description
  • (20%) Develop computational protocols and implement software for structure-based prediction of protein interactions.
  • (20%) Adopt and modify existing protein modeling procedures. Contribute to the development of research plans for large-scale structural modeling of protein interactions.
  • (20%) Employ existing procedures for implementation of web-based resourced for modeling of macromolecular interactions.
  • (15%) Refactor, debug, compile, link, deploy and benchmark existing in-house (GRAMMCell, GRAMM, Dockground, GWIDD, GWYRE) and licensed third-party (RosettaDock) software codes for structural modeling of protein complexes.
  • (10%) Train students and research assistants in computational biology techniques. Provide oversight of the research staff within the lab. Coordinate data collection and screening for data verification. Ensure that research methodology is adapted by staff.
  • (5%) Design new algorithms and implement computer software for structural modeling of protein cellular interaction networks.
  • (5%) Develop research proposals to granting agencies in collaboration with colleagues in Computational Biology program.
  • (5%) Write and produce research articles and scholarly publications. Present at meetings, seminars, conferences as applicable.

Position Requirements
The work location for this position will be a combination of on-site and remote. The on-site location is:

Required Qualifications
  1. MS in Computer Science, Physics, or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. One (1) year of research experience in designing and implementing algorithms for structural modeling of protein interactions.
  2. Three (3) years of experience in software development.
  3. Programming skills in Java, Python, C, HTML, JavaScript.
  4. Data management skills in MySQL.
