Spreader Operator - Asheville

Reports to: Production Supervisor - Contract Cutting

Supervises: N/A

Summary Statement: Under the general supervision of the Production Supervisor, the employee in this position operates an automated spreading machine following all established work and safety procedures.

Essential Job Functions



  • Assure present of fabric needed to perform requested operation.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, notifying maintenance of any concerns.
  • Visually assure product meets required specifications, including correct markers, quantity, minimal wrinkles, straight edges, free of defects, etc.
  • Operate spreader machine.
  • Accurately complete required computer work and paperwork.



Marginal Job Functions



  • Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
  • Assist in unloading China containers.
  • Participate in training and meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Working Conditions



  • Must be able to stand and reach for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work 10-hour shifts.
  • Must be able to work both planned and unplanned overtime.



Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities



  • Must be able to work professionally as part of a team with other department employees.
  • Must be able to comprehend and perform duties using established work and safety procedures.


  • Must be able to read, write and perform basic math functions.
  • Must perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workloads.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to visually inspect fabrics.
  • Must be forklift certified.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must have basic computer skills.



Education and Work Experience



  • Two years' experience operating computerized machinery preferred.
  • Experience operating automated fabric spreading machines preferred.
