Established in 2016, the College of the Arts is comprised of three schools: Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design, School of Film, Media & Theatre, School of Music, as well as the Dean's Office, Office of Educational Outreach, COTA Tech, and the Rialto Center for the Arts.

The College of the Arts (COTA) seeks a professional level College HR Officer, acting as a liaison with schools in the College, central administration, and the Provost's Office relating to staff and faculty personnel issues. This position will provide complex, high-level administrative support for the Dean's Office. This individual will need to both take direction and work independently, and adhere to tight deadlines. In addition, this person will need to be detail-oriented, familiar with University policies and procedures, and maintain confidentiality.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The College HR Officer will oversee the following areas:

* Faculty & staff recruitment;

* Classification;

* Records management;

* Payroll;

* Employee relations;

* Performance evaluations; and

* Staff development & training

The scope of responsibility will include these essential areas but is not limited to the following:


* Serves as the OneUSG coordinator for the College and as a final reviewer for all personnel actions (faculty, staff, student assistants, temporary and fee-based)
* Audits, approves, and/or initiates Manager Self Service (MSS) transactions ensuring compliance with HR and Affirmative Action policies and procedures
* Advise COTA departments on HR policies and procedures and provide necessary updates
* Works with COTA business managers on HR timelines, schedules, and processes
* Responsible for overseeing faculty recruitment, including advertising, adherence to Federal/State/University/College affirmative action personnel policies and procedures
* Assists COTA hiring officials with the classification of new staff positions and reclassification of existing positions
* Approves for posting job advertisements on the GSU Employment Office website
* Ensures all departments adhere to the interviewing policies and procedures before submitting interview evaluations forms
* Trains hiring managers on the use of the applicant tracking process
* Manages the annual staff evaluation process for the college
* Coordinates staff training session for COTA, with the Office of Employee Relations for performance evaluations
* Perform other professional related duties assigned or requested

Qualifications :

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of related supervisory/management experience in Human Resources; or a combination of education and related experience. Experience in a university setting preferred.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Previous experience associated with higher education / academic office environment
* Possess extensive knowledge of HR Operations and Systems
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
* Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
* Ability to think critically about issues and opportunities and identify solutions and options
* Strong organizational understanding and a propensity for attention to the details
* Able to multi-task, proactive with independent decision making, a self-starter, quick learner with awareness to meet deadlines
