Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Specialist - Remediation. In this role, you will assist in supporting environmental remediation projects, conduct site assessments, and help implement remediation strategies under the guidance of senior team members. Under direct supervision, provides technical assistance for the collection, identification, and compiling of observational and spatial data concerning a variety of biological, physical, and earth sciences. Provides assistance for the implementation of processes relating to water supply, air emission, pollution control, and cultural impacts. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that assigned responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards. Under direct supervision, may conduct natural resource field surveys collecting observational, spatial, and environmental data. Under direct supervision, may collect and compile samples of air, soil, water, sludge, and other matrices for analysis. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentation. Assist with performing basic professional environmental science work relating to ecological systems, air, and water resources, assisting with verifying the characteristics of a site, and providing technical assistance on various environmental issues. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and a field/work site notebook. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific health and safety procedures. Complete training on assigned tasks. Participating in cross-training opportunities with other teams and disciplines within the company when needed. May write technical report sections with supervision to summarize research findings, field/work site notes, and software. Assist with maintaining tools, calibration of equipment, troubleshooting or reporting equipment malfunctions, and performing inventory control activities. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and adhere to professional conduct and KLJ's policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field. Familiarity with analytical methods, research techniques, and ecology and habitats. Familiar with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience. Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team, to meet business objectives. Basic proficiency with technical writing, Office software (e.g., Word, Excel), communication software (e.g., Teams), and other data collection devices (e.g., iPads). Prior experience with GIS software and GPS units is desirable. Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week. Due to occasional travel a valid driver's license is required. Field Staff - This position requires the individual work 40 or more hours per week with 60% of the time spent in the field and 40% in the office. Office Staff - This position requires the individual work 40+ hours per week with 85% of time spent in the office and 15% in the field.
